Their first-choice name belonged to a toilet paper company
The founders labeled their files "NV", for next version, and settled on NVision, until they found a toilet-paper maker already had it. Jensen Huang suggested building on invidia, Latin for envy, for chips so good that competitors would turn green. NVIDIA went on to become one of the most valuable companies in the world.
